Guitarist Perry Smith is quickly gaining recognition in today’s jazz scene. Based in Los Angeles and working with a variety of groups including New West and the Kathleen Grace Band, he has performed extensively throughout
the United States, Japan, Europe and Canada.
In addition to performing, he is in his third year as a teaching artist for Education Through Music Los Angeles. With the program he teaches guitar classes to over 100
kids per year.
He is an award-winning composer receiving honors such as, Finalist for the 2007 International Songwriting Competition, and the ASCAP 2006 Young Jazz Composers Award. In 2005 he graduated from the Thornton School of Music at USC with a Bachelor of Music. As a student he studied with legendary guitarist Joe Diorio and composition with bassist John Clayton.
He has performed and/or recorded with legendary artists such as Dave Brubeck, Nancy Wilson, Harry Belafonte, Bobby McFerrin, Louie Bellson, Kenny Wheller, Larry Goldings, Joe Labarbra, Peter Erksine, Bob Sheppard, Darek Oles, Alan Pasqua, Roy McCurdy, and Charlres McPherson.
